UX Design
I am Tosh Sano, UX designer. I've designed consumer mobile and enterprise applications with a focus on making things work well for the end user.
Design is just one part of my work. Building a great product takes a team of professionals and I work with the entire cross functional team to bring it all together.
My passion is building products that work well for people. I draw inspiration from real world encounters and analyze problems to find a better way to make things work.
I feel satisfaction when I can put all the pieces together and create a great user experience.

EXPERIENCE
September 2019 - Present
USER EXPERIENCE SPECIALIST, THE MATHWORKS
At The MathWorks, I support the design of Matlab, a sophisticated programming environment that enables experts to analyze and visualize data. The people who use Matlab are in the aerospace, automotive, finance, and many other highly specialized fields. They rely on Matlab to perform complex calculations that allow them to complete critical work. These people are experts in their field and my job is to make sure Matlab lets them do their job.
January 2015 - August 2019
PRINCIPAL UX DESIGNER, ERICSSON
At Ericsson, I was the interaction designer for Ericsson Adaptive Inventory (EAI), an enterprise application that tracks telecom operator's equipment inventory and uses that information to provide insight into its operations.
The people who use EAI are professionals who have a wide range of needs. It was a challenge to design for these enterprise users and I relied on our UX research to help me evaluate our effort.
We conducted UX research with our customers at their work locations. These sessions also served as ways to maintain our overall relationship with our corporate clients.
2011 - 2014
PRINCIPAL UX DESIGNER, HERE
At HERE we created Pulse, a new social networking application that used location services in a revolutionary way. To test new ideas we created interactive mobile prototypes using Axure to simulate operation on actual mobile devices.
2011
PRINCIPAL UX DESIGNER, ORACLE
At Oracle I designed applications used by different players involved in pharmaceutical trials. There is a wide range of people who use the products including medical professionals such as doctors, nurses, and technicians as well as non professional test study participants.
Each person has a need to perform various tasks and regularly record data. Accuracy and completeness are important because the data is used to determine the effectiveness of drugs before being released into the marketplace.
2008-2011
USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER, NOKIA
At Nokia I was involved in the design of chat and email applications on a range of Nokia devices including low end devices with limited screen size and general capabilities. This was a wonderful challenge taking communications applications that exist on computer screens and making them work in a mobile environment.Â
Today these types of applications are common on our smartphones but at this time it was a challenge to bring these sophisticated functions to the public on these more limited devices.
